The mission of this committee is threefold: to encourage membership affiliation in Temple Isaiah, to help new members feel welcome and comfortable in our congregation during their first years of affiliation, and to promote the integration of all members into the various religious, social, educational, and social-action activities at Temple Isaiah.

In addition, programming and support is made available for all Jews, including Jews-by-choice, those considering conversion, interfaith families, and parents whose children are involved in interfaith relationships. We provide information, classes, a network of friends for this population, and help to sensitize the congregation and the community to their needs. One goal of the committee is to provide an atmosphere of support in which all of us can make Jewish choices in our lives.

A number of membership committee events and activities are geared toward helping new members feel integrated into the Temple community: a Shabbat service honoring new members, delivery of welcome baskets, a Shabbat afternoon Kallah with Rabbi Jaffe, and a new member Havdallah service followed by a pot-luck dinner, In the fall and spring the committee sponsors open houses for prospective members.

Committee members make themselves available to provide all new and recent members with someone they can call if and when they need advice. If you have been made to feel welcomed at Isaiah or feel there’s more to do, please join us in welcoming others.
