Board of Trustees

Acting under the By-Laws of Temple Isaiah, (pdf, 70kb) the congregation elects a Board of Trustees composed of a president and:

Vice Presidents

The Vice Presidents are Officers of the Temple, nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by the Congregation. Each Vice President is responsible for a particular aspect of temple life, working with the cluster of committees and groups that function within that area. Vice Presidents serve on the Executive Committee. Their responsibilities include:

Coordinating activities and maintaining communications between the committee clusters.
Keeping committee clusters focused on the Temple's goals.
Assisting Committee Chairs as needed.
Assuring that committee clusters are properly managed, that there are enough volunteers, and that a succession plan exists for Committee Chairs.
Advising the President on the appointment of Committee Chairs

Below are the specific aspects of temple life assigned to each Vice President as well as the clusters of committees and activities that they will work with. These clusters and activities can be changed by the President in consultation with the Executive Committee and with the advice and consent of the board.

Responsibility

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the general management of the affairs, funds and properties of the congregation. They act on all matters of policy; hold responsibility for the hiring and firing of personnel; control revenue, investments and expenditures and promote the welfare and best interests of the congregation.

Meetings

The Board of Trustees meets regularly on the third Thursday evening of each month (with the exception of July) at 7:30p.m. in the double upstairs classroom. All Temple members are invited to attend these meetings. Dates shift occasionally; check with the Office.

Clergy

Temple Isaiah's rabbis and cantor provide complete liturgical, spiritual and counseling services for the Temple membership. They actively participate in the educational process for both adults and children, work with the auxiliaries and provide support and direction to the many Temple committees, cultural programs and social action projects.
