The Israel action committee is working to raise awareness about Israel through educational and political advocacy programs, through cultural activities and celebrations, and through direct contact with Israelis.

The Hurva Synagogue [Wikipedia article], located in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, is now being restored exactly as it was before being dynamited in the conflict of 1948.

We support Israel in her search for peace, and we support Israelis who have been victimized by terrorism. In addition to the issues of war and peace, we support religious pluralism in Israel and work to confront anti-Semitism around the world. This work is of vital importance, and we welcome the participation of new members.

Israel Action Programs include:

• Speakers, seminars and teach-ins
• Project Embrace/Adopt-a Family (to aid victims of terrorism), in partnership with the Social Action Committee
• Fund-raising to donate an ambulance to Magen David Adom in Israel
• Gesher Project-Establishment of a sister-congregation relationship with Temple Or Hadash in Haifa
• Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration (Israel Independence Day) and other cultural events
